Branding

The impression I’m trying to give is calm, controlled, professional. I would like it to be colourful/cheerful but I’m trying to avoid it feeling too busy or bright. Theatre websites often use a lot of black which I’d like to avoid. I particularly like geometric shapes and the slightly retro orange, turquoise, yellow colours.
— Lisa Hood

After a consultation call with Lisa and a few follow up emails, we presented her with two options for her logo, colour palette and typography.

Lisa didn’t want the traditional jet black styling that a lot of theatre websites utilised. However, she was aware that she probably couldn’t completely deviate from this, as it might make it more difficult for visitors to identify her as a theatre professional.

We therefore decided to use a dark charcoal grey to create the moody atmosphere without the cliche colour palette. We used bright orange and turquoise highlights to put some of Lisa’s own style in there and went for neutral backdrops to make sure it was still calm and professional.

Portfolio Showcase

Lisa wanted her website to showcase her set building and production management experience. She wanted a thumbnail image and a way for viewers to see the details of the piece.

We created a custom portfolio type page where viewers could click to expand on relevant details rather than having to scroll through every single piece of information on the page.

Each box expands to show the year, title and extra details of each set build.

Upon handing the website ownership over, we also gave Lisa a tutorial on how to add future pieces to both her portfolios so she could manage this herself.

“From the initial consultation to signing off on the final details, Josie and Arla have been creative, responsive, communicative and efficient.  I've found the process so easy and great value for money and I'm so proud of my finished website.  I can't wait to show it off!”
