  • Web design refers to the aesthetics behind every website you visit on the internet. It is an umbrella term for graphic design, images, user interface, and copywriting that draws you in when you visit a new website page. In other words, it is everything you can see! The more user-friendly and visually appealing a website is, the most likely someone will want to explore it for longer. A web design should encapsulate your brand, inspire your audience and help you to achieve your business goals effortlessly by leading your customers on a journey from landing page to completion.

  • When you work with Opal Sky Digital Designs we will always begin by getting to know more about you and your ideas. Every website whether 1 page or 30 needs to have an attractive design that draws the user in and encourages them to explore more about you and your offering. All website types need to be user-friendly and distinctive so you are set apart from your competitors. Despite this, our business was based on a need for more affordable web design, we wanted to encourage more people to follow their dreams and therefore are conscious of this when creating a quote. Our prices begin from £300 for a 1-page simple site with an average client paying around £700 for a small business site. We keep our prices low so that we can help as many new starters as possible, so get in touch today and see if we can help make your dreams a reality!

  • This is the type of question we would ask too and we think you have to trust your gut with this one! Our business has been created to help as many people as possible get started building their brand, but we understand that everyone is different! We offer a free 30-minute consultation to all our clients so that we can get to know each other better, this will also give you the opportunity to ask us any of those important questions you have before getting started and you are under no obligation to work with us if you don’t feel like it’s a good match. We try to make sure that our client’s vision is what drives us, and if you don’t have a vision yet then don’t worry, that’s okay too, we love helping you work out what you want and need to achieve your goals! We will try to support you in whatever way is best and we understand that everyone is unique. Get in touch, we are friendly and would love to have a free chat about your requirements, after that we don’t mind what choice you make as long as it’s right for you!

  • Web development is a broad term for the design, creation, and maintenance of websites but includes more technical aspects such as user interfacing and back-end code development. We of course combine web design and development to create your site but we don’t discuss this in too much detail as we want our services to be easily understandable to someone without a background in coding or web development! We will let you know if your requests require custom coding and what that entails but for the most part you can sit back and let us cover the design and development of your dream website.

  • UX design refers to user experience and this is probably the most important factor to consider when designing a website. Did you know that it takes 50 milliseconds for a user to decide if they like your brand or not? That may seem crazy to most but in today’s world UX design is everything. Your website should tell a story and take your customer on a journey from the homepage to the end page (whatever that looks like for you!). It should be easy on the eye and allow your client to glide from page to page with little to no confusion. Companies who work on improving the UX design of their website experience an average increase in conversion of 83%!

This is why here at Opal Sky Digital Designs UX friendly design is and always will be a huge priority. We think about your clients every step of the way to ensure they have the best experience when browsing your site.

  • Custom coding is a term we use to refer to anything more technical than the usual web design features you can use online. Not all features are obtainable with the usual features and tools that most website platforms offer, so when you need adaptations, you need custom coding! This coding comes in the form of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript which are the web development languages used by modern-day sites. When you request something only possible through custom coding we will go through this in detail without a load of jargon so you have a time scale of how long that work will take and whether it is imperative for your business or not.

  • SEO stands for search engine optimisation, in other words, how likely a search engine is to find your website based on keywords. Most searching online is now done by using keywords, when a user types in a phrase or sentence, the search engine uses these keywords to determine the results shown. There is so much information present online now that these search engines must rank these results based on an algorithm. That algorithm learns that the more users find and interact with your page, the higher you should rank within the search results. Therefore, SEO is always important for a successful website, we are always happy to discuss this in further detail but for now, you can be assured that SEO optimisation comes as standard with all our builds.

  • Responsive web design refers to a website that adapts according to the device it is used on. Content and layout may need to be fundamentally different when being viewed on a mobile vs a large mac desktop. When we launch your website, we will test the design on multiple devices to ensure that your clients always get the best experience. Remember 63% of all internet use is now done by phone, so it is important to consider this when designing a website.

  • For us, an e-commerce site applies to any website that operates with the main function of selling a product. The size varies tremendously from sites stocking thousands of products to those wanting to sell a few art prints or handmade items. We are happy to discuss your needs regarding commerce during your free consultation, again everyone is unique, and your needs are crucial. We tend never to turn down a potential client but as we have mentioned elsewhere this business was created to help others like us to escape the 9-5 and believe in themselves. There are thousands of web designers out there designing for big businesses, we wanted to help those who fall outside of that category, so with that in mind get in touch if you think that sounds like you!

  • Good question, and we a thrilled to have many answers to that one! Firstly, our creator, Arla Kayne, decided to create this business to help others like herself to dispel that inner critic and take a leap toward their life goals. We are here for anyone who wants to escape the 9-5 job because they know inside, they have something better to offer. For anyone who would rather have more time to do things they enjoy but dreams of running their own business. We are here for anyone channelling their creativity into something special they want to share with the world! We love working with all kinds of companies but have been lucky enough to find those who align with our values along the way. We aren’t here to make a huge profit, we fund full-time life on the road exploring everything this planet has to offer and want to help others do the same. We believe more people should have that work-life independence they have always dreamed of. That is why our prices won’t skyrocket and why we will always value every single one of our clients. It is a mutual exchange for us as we both help one another towards living the life we choose. Lastly all of the above will be reflected in our prices, let’s create a movement of people creating their own destinies!

  • This is more than a frequently asked question; this is a need-to-know! For that reason, we have given a full description of our process on our Services page.

  • No, although there are discounts available for doing so, we understand that not everyone can afford a website built for a one-off upfront payment. Therefore, we break down the costs and deposit/instalment options on the first quote you receive. We will always work with you where possible to make sure we can help you get the website you deserve. We can do that by spreading the cost or making upgrades later in the design process when more funds are available so never hesitate to get in touch with us, no matter the budget!
